Recently, the promotional poster for the horror sci-fi comedy Y2K has been unveiled, setting a chilling tone with its ominous color palette. The image features a three-pronged plug transformed into a menacing spike, dripping blood, accompanied by the tagline: “1999, the last party before the New Year…,” hinting at the impending "disaster" of the millennium, where digital devices turn against humanity.

The piercing dial-up tones that marked the era are a prominent element in director Kyle Mooney's debut film, Y2K. Set on the eve of New Year's Eve 1999, the story follows high school student Eli (played by Jaeden Martell) and his best friend Danny (Julian Dennison), alongside the ever-dreamy Laura (Rachel Zegler), as they decide to attend a grand celebration before the dawn of the new millennium. However, when the clock strikes midnight, events take an unexpected and bizarre turn. Due to the Y2K bug, household electronics spring to life, transforming into deadly machines. VCRs launch tapes at unsuspecting victims, while microwave ovens seek out human heads to cook.

The film Y2K is scheduled for release in North America on December 6th.
