On August 19th, renowned director Hu Mei shared her thoughts on the release of her film "The Dream of Red Mansions: The Golden Jade Affinity" in an extensive post. She expressed her openness to feedback while also pointing out the existence of what appears to be coordinated campaigns using AI-generated data to flood the film with one-star reviews. Some accounts were created months ago seemingly for the sole purpose of targeting this movie, and some went as far as making personal attacks, as if the creation of this film was a grave offense. Is it not peculiar?

A film has just been released, so where does this deep-seated resentment come from, dear friend?

My film "The Dream of Red Mansions: The Golden Jade Affinity," which has taken years to bring to life, has finally hit theaters over these past few days.

Regardless of box office performance, this is the project into which I have poured the most effort throughout my career. We drew upon the accumulated wisdom of our predecessors' many attempts at adapting this classic work into film, undergoing a rigorous creative process that spanned 18 years, marked by innovation and refinement.

Now that the film is finally out, I feel a great weight lifted off my shoulders.

As for the audience, there are those who enjoy it and those who criticize it, which is entirely normal. For me, criticism is nothing new; I've had my fair share of it before. Whether good or bad, the ultimate judgment lies with the viewers themselves.

Of course, all feedback is welcomed with open arms and a grateful heart.

However, it is noteworthy that some individuals have employed AI-generated data to spam one-star reviews.

Some accounts were established months in advance, apparently dedicated to maligning or sabotaging this film.

There are even those engaging in personal attacks, as if the creation of this film were a cardinal sin. Isn't this odd?

In reality, despite being a professional director, I'm just another ordinary person walking down the street. Why would anyone go to such lengths to target me?

Here, I'd like to highlight two self-proclaimed "tough critics" whose accounts I invite the public to review.

Incidentally, I have instructed my legal team to preserve evidence of these activities. These records are precious, so please do not delete them!
